The thing about being unemployed is the boredom that accompanies it. You can do butt loads of internet research, networking and filling out applications, but when it comes down to it, what else is there to do? You can only do so much for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week when you don’t have a job. And that doesn’t even include the hours that would be considered “after work ” that are also free.
Some days are obviously better than others. On a good day, I’ll be inspired and I’ll manage to write most of the day. I’ll work on my websites and blogs. Perhaps I’ll take a look at jobs, and fill applications. And if I’m feeling especially talented that day, I’ll even work out.
Other than that, I usually just cozy up to daytime television. Those are the bad days; like today. The problem not being able to get solid employment straight out of college it’s hard to get on your feet.
You don’t have a substantial savings, and you live from paycheck to paycheck. And when you lose your job for the second time, your car breaks down, and you live in a city where an inch of rain a day is the norm, you begin to feel like you are stuck indoors.
I’m so blessed to have a roof over my head. I’m not going to lie, at times I feel like I’m trapped in a prison. Sure I have a cute bike so I can go to the grocery store and I take the bus for special trips. But this really isn’t a way to live, imprisoned by the rain.
So what’s in store for tomorrow? I’m trying to sell my car so I can get a moped; which will slightly increase my mobility. Hopefully, I can get writing as well.
